On Tuesday, June 30, 2020. Montenegro is opened the last remaining negotiation chapter- 8 Competition in the accession negotiations with the European Union. Now the work on closing the chapter remains. Only three are currently closed.
Accession negotiations are divided into 35 chapters, but for 33 chapters of negotiations. Montenegro now has all 33 chapters open, but has closed only three so far.
The last negotiating chapter that opened on Tuesday was Chapter 8 – Competition, opened at the accession conference with the Director General of the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Neighborhood Negotiations, Mr. Christian Danielsson.
As a reminder, negotiations on Montenegro’s accession to the European Union were opened in June 2012.
It is states that Montenegro has gone the furthest in European integration of all the countries of the Western Balkans.
With this act, the Agency for Protection of Competition gained even greater responsibility and importance on the path of Montenegro towards EU integration.
